Trademark Clearinghouse Protects 34,000+ Brand Domains

Trademark Clearinghouse, the brand protection service for new domain extensions, has surpassed 34,000 entries in its database.

For new top-level domains, Trademark Clearinghouse works much like the monitoring services offered by trademark registration firms: companies get notified each time someone registers a domain containing a protected term. This dramatically cuts the time it takes to respond to potential phishing and cybersquatting attempts.

Trademark Clearinghouse also lets brands register their domains on a priority basis during the “Sunrise” phase of each new extension. During this phase, only companies that can prove ownership of the corresponding trademark are allowed to register domains. For brands listed in Trademark Clearinghouse, this verification only needs to happen once.

In total, the 34,400 brands registered with Trademark Clearinghouse have generated nearly 200,000 infringement notifications, roughly 6 per brand on average. Each brand has subscribed to the service for an average of 2.5 years.
