Registering a .net domain with Registros.com is straightforward. Just type the domain name you want into the search bar. If the domain is available, click "Register" and then "Go to cart".

On the next page, you can specify the DNS you want to assign to your domain (the address of the server you want your domain to point to). If you don't have this information yet, just keep the default DNS — you can always update them later. Our default DNS also give you access to advanced DNS editing.

Once you've finished configuring your domain, all you need to do is create your account and choose a payment method. Your .net domain will be registered automatically as soon as payment is processed.

The golden rule for a great .net domain is simple: choose a domain that's easy to remember. Keep in mind that .net is particularly well-suited to projects that revolve around some kind of network — whether technological, social, or otherwise. Make sure your domain is also easy to pronounce and spell.

To transfer your .net domain, you'll need to complete three steps first:

1. Unlock your domain: Before a domain can be transferred, you need to make sure the transfer lock is disabled (some control panels show this as "LOCK"). You can do this through your current provider's control panel.
2. Get your authorization code: Also known as an AUTH-Code or EPP Code, this is a security code that verifies the domain holder is the one requesting the transfer. You can usually find it in your domain's control panel at your current provider — you'll need it to initiate a transfer to any other registrar.
3. Check your administrative contact details: The administrative contact is the person responsible for managing the domain and the one who will receive the verification email to confirm the transfer. Go to the "Manage contacts" section at your current provider and make sure your current email address is listed under the administrative contact.

In reality, domains cannot truly be purchased — what you get when you register a domain is more like a license to use it for a set period. You can renew this period as many times as you like, and during it the domain is yours in every practical sense.

When a domain is already registered by someone else, it may sometimes be possible to acquire the rights to it by reaching a sale agreement with the current holder, who then transfers ownership to you.
